Charles Butts

Funeral services for Charles T. Butts, 82, of Cadiz, were conducted on June
1, 2003, at Goodwin Funeral Home.
The Revs. Derrick Norris and Nickey Knight officiated the services. Burial
followed in Siloam Cemetery in Trigg County.
Mr. Butts died on May 29, 2003, at Shady Lawn Nursing Center of natural causes.
Mr. Butts was born on Oct. 10, 1920, in Shelby County. He was the son of
the late Delbert and Lilly Williams Butts.
Mr. Butts was a retired forest ranger and a member of the Liberty Point Baptist
Church and Woodmen of the World.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lee
Skaggs Butts; five sisters, Naomi Allen, Waldine Butler, Hattie Vest, Anna
Mae Brooks and Alice Cunningham; and one brother, Jesse Butts.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jean Butts,
Harold and Darlene Butts, James and Lou Butts, and Kenneth and Kathy Butts,
all of Cadiz, and Wallace Butts, of Charleston, S.C.; three daughters and
sons-in-law, Wilma and Randle Cruse and Reva Harper, all of Cadiz, and Anna
and Sidney Sykes of Big Rock, Tenn.; three sisters, Lois Jennings of Shelby
County, Pauline Payne of Arizona and Juanita Williams of Jefferstown; 16
grandchildren, Terry Butts, Margie Scroggins, Jennifer Mitchell, David Butts,
Stevie Butts, Ricky Butts, Mark Butts, David Butts, Eddie Harper, Nacy Harper,
Janet Sivells, Todd Butts, Lee Anne Whitehead, Margaret Thomas, Seath Butts
and Justin Butts; six step-grandchildren, Michelle Knight, Cole Bybee, John
Cruse, Tracy Sabatino, Marc Cruse and Mikey Lane; 16 great-grandchildren,
T.C. Butts, Benji Allen, Tori Scroggins, Ian Butts, Eliza Butts, Samantha
Butts, Jeremy Butts, Arlon Butts, Jennifer Marlowe, Jessie Marlowe, Demis
Harper, Matthew Harper, Megan Harper, Taylor Butts, Shayleigh Whitehead,
and Brandon Thomas; 10 step great-grandchildren, Chassidy Oliver, Darrian
Oliver, Jamie Oliver, Austin Knight, Brook-Lynn Knight, Grace Knight, Dylan
Cruse, Zachary Lane, Justin Lane and Dylan Lane; and one great-great-grandchild,
Kennan Horner.
Serving as pallbearers were Mike Oakley, Gary Oakley, Vance Oakley, Donnie
Snyder, James Allen, Jimmy Cunningham, Larry Cunningham, William Brooks and
Ellis Brooks. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons and step-grandsons.
Music was provided by the Dunn Family and Carolyn Stallons, pianist.
