Funeral services for Billy Ray “Smoker Bill” Alexander, 68, of Cadiz, were
conducted on Thursday, August 19, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Goodwin Funeral Home.
Rev. James Shuck officiated at the services. Burial followed in Siloam Cemetery
in Trigg County.
Mr. Alexander died on Monday, August 16, 2004, at 11:55 p.m., at Trigg County
Hospital of natural causes.
Mr. Alexander was born on July 17, 1936, in Trigg County. He was the son
of the late Troy and Alma Wade Allen Alexander.
Mr. Alexander was retired from Bestway, and employed with Crop Production
as truck driver; and was a member of Siloam United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandchild, Dusty
Sexton.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Owens Alexander, of Cadiz; three daughters,
Teresa Sexton of Symsonia, Patti Alexander and Karla Alexander, both of Cadiz;
a brother, Jackie Wade Alexander of Cadiz; and five grandchildren, Cory Sexton,
Kelly Sexton, Benji Alexander, David Lassiter, and Brittany Hughes.
Music was provided by Jody Sexton, pianist and vocalist.
Serving as pallbearers were Marcellious Alexander, Tim Allen, Tommy Allen,
George Lewis, Donnie Tyler, and William E. Tyler.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Mitchell, Mike Brashears, Steve Hargis, Bobby
Dale Oakley, Buddy Chambless, and Roy Alexander.
