Elope to Metropolis
Mr. Clark and Miss Allen Married Last Week.
Oscar Clark and Miss Minnie Allen who eloped from their homes in Trigg county,
were at Metropolis this afternoon. They arrived in Paducah Wednesday night and
left this morning on the steamer Cowling for Metropolis. Clark told a friend
that while the old folks were enjoying a musicale near their homes on Little
River, near Cadiz, they slipped away and came to Paducah. It was said that
Miss Allen was only 14 years of age. She was extremely young in appearance and
wore a short frock. A telegram from Metropolis this afternoon stated that the
couple had been issued a license. Clark gave his age as twenty-one and Miss
Allen as eighteen. * Paducah News Democrat June 1.
The young couple were married Thursday and reached home Friday morning. Paul
Tooke and wife accompanied them as far as Pacucah. Miss Allen is the beautiful
daughter of Mr and Mrs George S. Allen of Muddy Fork country, and is only
fourteen years of age. Mr Clark is a clever young farmer and has many friends.
For the past two years he has been living with Mr Allen. He is twenty-two.
Parental objections caused the elopment. For the present they are living with
Mr John Tooke, uncle of the groom.
C.B. Allen 67 Passes Away
Last Rites Held at Goodwin Funeral Home Sunday Afternoon
Carloss Blane Allen, age 67, a prominent farmer and former Trigg County
Magistrate for 12 years passed away unexpectedly at his home on Route 4, Cadiz
around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, November 4, following a heart attack.
Mr Allen had not been in apparent ill-health prior to his death and had not
complained. His death came as an unexpected shock to his family and community.
Mr Allen had been a member of the cadiz Masonic Lodge for a number of years.
He was a member of the Hurricane Baptist Church where he took an active-part in
the affairs of the church and served as a Sunday School teacher.
He was born Mar 28, 1894 in the Hurricane community of this county and was a
son of the late George and Carrie Kirby Allen. He was married April 15, 1917
to the former Miss Inez Mitchell who survives.
Other survivors in addition to his wife include a son, Noble D Allen, Trigg
County; three daughters, Mrs D.L. "Pete" Hendricks, Detroit; Mrs Troy
Alexander, Trigg County and Mrs Edward Tyler, also of Trigg; two brothers, H.B.
Allen, Paducah; and Bob Allen, Trigg County; eight grandchildren; two great
grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews and more distant relatives.
Funeral services were conducted at Goodwin Funeral Home Sunday, Nov 5, at
2.p.m. by his pastor, the Rev. Jackie Geurin, assisted by his former pastor,
the Rev. Keidell Thomas, Mrs Bingham Stephens, Dr. R.W. Niles, and Mrs Sammie
Bentley, organist, was in charge of the music service.
Masonic rites were conducted at the graveside in Siloam Cemetery.
Pallbearer were Plomer Clark, Willie Clark, Raymond Allen, Cecil Allen,

Funeral Rites Wed for Mrs George Allen

Death came to Mrs Margaret Carolyn Allen Tuesday afternoon at Jennie Stuart
Hospital in Hopkinsville where she had been a patient for the past 10 months.
She was 89 years of age having been born 19 Mar 1861. She was married to
George S Allen November 25, 1884 who preceed her in death. There were 8
children born of this union three of whom survive. Carloss and Bob Allen of
Trigg County and Homer Allen of Paducah. Other survivors are 42 grandchildren,
41 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Mrs Allen professed faigh in Christ at an early age and has been a member of the Liberty Point Baptist Church for 78 years.
Funeral services were held at the home of her son, Bob Allen, Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. Baymond Baker assisted by Rev. Wade Cunningham officiating. Burial was made in the Allen cemetery with Mitchell and Campbell
in charge.
Pall bearer were Chappell and Noble Allen, Ragon and Sam Cunningham,Allen
Clark, Douglas Stone.
Flowers were in charge of Mrs Vernon Bradley, Mrs Raymond Harper, Mrs A.C.
Rutland, Mrs Johnnie York, Mrs Aarice Aldridge, Mrs Douglas Stone, Misses Patsy
Stone, Myrtleen Allen, Myra Allen; Mrs Lorene Tyler, Mrs Oscar Gray, Mrs Archie
Goodacre, Mrs Troy Alexander, Mrs Edward Tyler.
There were a number of out of town relatives and friends here for the
funeral.
