The Rev. Herman Capshaw was converted August 16, 1922, and united with the Pleasant Union General Baptist Church on August 22, 1922; was ordained to preach March 30, 1935, by the Presbytery of Union Association.

He helped organize Cave Spring General Baptist Church and dedicated the Gum grove General Baptist Church. He has preached 1627 sermons; witnessed 314 professions of faith; baptized 287; conducted 33 funerals, and performed 14 marriages.

During his ministry of 18 years he has pastored the following churches; Union Temple, Pleasant Union of Hopkins County, Pleasant Union of Todd County, Cedar Grove, Gum Grove, Union Ridge, Cave Spring, Enon, and Corley's Chapel.
