HARRINGTON
The 1810 Livingston Co. Census shows Wiley Owens, age 16-26, living between Drury Harrington and John Harrington.By 1820 Drury is in Jackson Co., Ill.,as is Wiley O. Harrington. Wiley is later shown on Lowndes Co., MS tax records as Owen Harrington.Howel Harrington is shown as marrying Esther Lusk in Livingston Co. on 11/20/1811,with John Harrington as bondsman, and is never shown anywhere else.I wonder if Howel could in fact be W Owen, and the handwriting has been misinterpreted. If anyone has access to the original handwritten records I would appreciate your thoughts as to this theory.

BERRY, RICHMOND, HODGE, PARKER
Looking for proof that Uriah Berry (c. 1817 - 1854/60) was Uriah, son of John Berry (1793 - 1839). Uriah married Amanda Jane Richmond (c. 1822 - 1877), born in IL, daughter of Guy Richmond of Connecticut and Elizabeth of Illinois (possibly Algonquin, McHenry Co., IL). A son named Uriah is mentioned in John Berry's will. Family listed below: I. Guy Richmond mar. Elizabeth II. Amanda Jane Richmond mar. Uriah Berry III. Eliza Edmonia Berry (b. 1854) born near Berry's Ferry, mar. Arthur Charles Parker (1850 - 1915/18) of Memphis, TN Uriah's possible ancestors would be: I. James Berry (bef. 1781 - c. 1825) moved from VA to TN to AL, where he died II. John Berry (1793 - 1839) born in TN, died in Livingston Co., KY, operated Berry's Ferry III. Uriah Berry, mentioned in will, probably same Uriah (it's not a common name and my Uriah's daughter was born near Berry's Ferry) Tue May 23 12:43:23 2000

I am looking for the family of Hurley's who came from Livingston county, KY. My g,g, grandmother was Emma Hurley. She was suppose to have several brothers and sisters. I believe one of the sisters names was, Mattie Francis Caroline Hurley, who married a Braswell. Emma, I believe married a Parkerson and then Robert M. Black. She died in MO. about 1901, give or take a year. She is shown in 1900 census with her husband,Robert Black and her children. I can't find any trace of her before that, except in an 1885 marriage record. She and her family were from Livingston. Did her whole family move? Or did she marry and move to Missouri on her own? Her mother's maiden name is supposed to be Slayton, but that may be wrong. Also, the spelling on both names may vary a bit. Thanks...... Tue Apr 11 12:39:30 2000

I have been told that Stigall was killed a few years later in either Indiana or Illinois. Any information will be appreciated. John Stegall Mon Jan 3 14:07:18 2000

I need help in identifying my OLIVER ancestors. This OLIVER household consisted of unknown first named husband, born in Kentucky, unknown first name mother, born in Illinois. Three children were born to the OLIVER family; a son Lee, born 1886 and two daughters Allie, born about 1900 and Laura, born about 1904. The parents died about 1896 and the children were raised by relatives. Laura, my grandmother, is found in 1910 in Dunklin Co., MO in the household of Robert & Miranda (Veatch) OLIVER. Allie was reportedly raised by her grandparents - paternal or maternal I don't know. It is not known where or by whom Lee was taken in. MITCHELL
Dear Mitchell Researchers, As many a researcher I am attempting to put my Elizabeth Mitchell with a Mitchell family. Below I have included Kentucky Mitchells who I believe may have come from Livingston County. Elizabeth was said to have been born in North Carolina and indications are that she was born about 1780 to 1790. She married my 5G Grandfather John Russell born 1784/89 Rockingham North Carolina. While in North Carolina they had four Children: Samuel ca 1808, Sarah 1809, Charles 1810, and William 1812. About 1813 they were in Harrison and Floyd Counties in Indiana. They left Harrison County, Indiana and settled in Pike County Indiana about 1822. Would need to check this last date in my records. They had another seven children in Indiana: Rachel, Elizabeth, John, James, Martha, Thursey, and Minerva. Elizabeth died shortly after the birth of Minerva in 1828. In a historical document from Floyd County, Indiana it was stated that Elizabeth Mitchell was of Mitchell Farm in White River Country. This could be a number of counties in Indiana however I believe they may have been talking about Pike County, Indiana. A daughter in law of Elizabeth's (Sarah Ann Wood) was living with Richardson family in Pike about 1845 as her half sister married George D. Mitchell who owned a rather larger farm on White River. He was also a doctor. Checking the census records (see below) he stated he was born in Kentucky but his parents were from Maryland. I would appreciate any hints, stories, possible associations that may come to mind in this matter. I also know that a G. A. Mitchell was a witness to the will of Charles Russell son of Elizabeth Mitchell and John Russell in 1848. Most everything below is from 1860 Census. Mitchells of Pike County, Indiana In 1860 there were the following Mitchell families were present in Washing Twp. Pike County, Indiana. Dr. George D. Mitchell b 1813 KY m. Caroline Richardson b. 1822 IN 06/27/1845 Parents of Caroline were Harriot Traylor Wood b 1791 SC and James Richardson Children: Kate Somero William Mitchell b 1818 KY m. (3) John Anderson & Sarah [Carney]'s daughter Jane Anderson 2m Rev War soldier John Holland who lived in Ky for a short time. I am pretty sure that the John Holland shown in early Livingston Co records is this man. John & Jane moved to Alabama circa 1816-18. There are several early Livingston Co surnames which match the allied surnames associated with the marriages of John & Jane's children/grandchildren as well as in Jane's brother William Anderson's line in early Marengo/Sumter counties, Alabama. LAMBERT
I am seeking info on a John Lambert, b. @1823 in PA (according to census records). He came to Livingston Co., KY where he worked as a Ship's Carpenter. He married Clarinda Ann McCloud of Smithland, KY before 1854. Their children were: Frank William, b. 1854, m. Fannie Smith 18 May 1876 in Livingston Co., KY, and he died in 1881. Richard b. Sept 1856, Henry born 24 Nov 1858 and Thomas b. 5 July 1861. John Lambert disappeared after 1861. He may have served in the War Between the States and died. By 2 May 1864, Clarinda or "Ann" Lambert was ordered by the Livingston Co. Court to appear in court and explain why her sons William, Richard and Henry should NOT be "put up to apprenticeship." They haggled back and forth until 6 May 1867 when the court declared her an unfit mother and ordered that the boys be put out to apprenticeship. Then the court named James L. Fleming as the man to whom Thomas Lambert was to be apprenticed to. I don't think it ever happened, for Clarinda "Ann" Lambert sold all of the property she'd inherited from her father (William D. McCloud), took the boys (apparently all of them except William--my ancestor. He must have stayed in Livingston Co.) and left Smithland with her mother, Rebecca (Larrison) McCloud never to be seen or heard of again. No trace or clues were left behind as to where they were going. I would like to correspond with anyone who might know of any of these people. This Lambert line is a brick wall for me. I am searching for information about the WARE families residing in Livingston County in the years before 1825. Three sisters-Mary "Polly" Ware, Nancy Ware, and Patty Ware--migrated from Livingston County to Izard County, Arkansas, in the early 1800s. They may have been related to John and Samuel Ware of Livingston County. Jehoida J. Ware, born in Arkansas in 1825, may have been a descendant of Wares in Livingston County. I would appreciate information on any of the Wares that I have named, their ancestors, or any other Wares in Livingston County in the late 18th or early 19th centuries. Where would I find a register of boats or information on the boat. The Suttles family owned the "Franklin No.2" which looks like a Delta Queen type boat. Did Livingston County required boats of this type to be registered during the late 1800's early 1900's? I have a copy of the picture of the boat with 14 adults visable. Mon Mar 1 12:53:19 1999
