Elder Isaac H. Henry

Elder Henry was born in Hopkins County, Kentucky, October 22, 1828. He professed faith in Christ at the age of 13, joined the church when 15 years of age. He entered the full work of the ministry in 1859, and was ordained within the bounds of the Ohio Association. In 1863 he visited Union Association of Kentucky, and in 1864 settled within its boundaries. His manifest ability, his discretion, his unselfish devotion, his winning spirit, his commanding presence, soon made him a power among the churches and gave a new impetus to Union Association. He was recognized as one of the foremost men among General Baptist. He was a man whom his brethren delighted to honor, for he was moderator of the Union Association nine times. He was also made moderator of the second and third sessions of the General Association. His sermons were delivered with such force and earnestness. At the Association in 1885 it was reported that he had passed on to his reward, and the Association called upon each of its churches to "hold a memorial meeting, and have a sermon preached to his memory". He was moderator of Union Association in 1866,1868,1871, 1872, 1874, 1875, 1876, 1877, and 1878.
