Willis Patrick “Pat” Oliver, 66, of Madison, Ala., formerly of Lyon County, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at Huntsville, Ala., Hospital.

Born Feb. 4, 1943, a son of Trela May McCracken Oliver of Lyon County and the late Ura Boyd Oliver.

He was a 1961 Lyon County High School graduate, a graduate of Murray State University and the University of Kentucky with degrees in physics and mathematics and of the University of Alabama at Huntsville with a degree in administrative science, he joined the U.S. Army Missile Intelligence Agency as a physicist in 1972, and retired from the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency’s Missile and Space Intelligence Center as Senior Intelligence Officer/Physicist in 2003.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Trevah Ann Butler Oliver; a son, Nathan Patrick Oliver of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a stepson, Graham Matthew Burchfield of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Phyllis Lynn Nicholson of Nashville, Tenn., and Janice Elaine Thompson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and a brother, Herschel Boyd Oliver of Natchitoches, La.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home Chapel at Huntsville, Ala.
