Ebb Guess Victim of Highway Accident

Ebb Lozier Guess, well known city resident, and an employee of the state highway department, was accidently killed late Saturday afternoon while on his job on Highway 60 north of Marion. He was struck by a passing car while directing traffic in trying to complete the days work on that particular job. Mr. Guess was 70 years of age and spent his entire life in Crittenden County where he was born. For years he practiced the trade of a blacksmith and was well known to the citizens of the city and county.      
  Mr. Guess was first married to Miss Mayme Spring in 1900 and to this union was born one girl. Mrs Arnold Driscoll. Death disolved this union and he was married the second time to Miss Minnie Mae Driver in 1904, who survived him. To this union there came eight children who survive him; Mrs. G. O. Cavanah, Smithland, Mrs. E. N. Gardner, Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Monroe Travis, Providence, Elbert T. Guess, Sturgis, Mrs. Roy Richardson, Evansville, Ind., Mrs. Orbin Grimes, Samem, Roy N. Guess, Long Beach, Calif., and Charles E. Guess, Westminster, Calif. and Mrs. Arnold Driscoll, city Madisionville, and two sisters, also one brother, John Guess, Mrs. Harry Ramage, Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Geo. Travis, city.    Mr. Guess joined the First Baptist church some years agoand his pastor J. C. Lilly, conducted the funeral which was held on Tuesday, with burial following in Mapleview cemetery. Rev. Lilly was assisted by Rev. G. O. Cavanah.
   The pallbearers were Monroe Hollamon, Marlin Ford, Learner Stone, Bill Hicks, Ernest Jones and Tiller Sigler.
