Hello!
My great grandparents were from Crittenden County, Kentucky, around the
town of Tolu. I have virtually no information on the family names of
TINSLEY and of CURRY. My grandfather was James E. Curry and he was born
2/12/1894 to NANCY J. TINSLEY and THOMAS CURRY. My grandfather had one
sister who remained in the area who never married, and her name was LOU
CURRY. He had one brother WILLIAM or WILL CURRY who died in action in
WWI, and his mother NANCY J. CURRY was invited by the government to visit
her sons grave in Seurnes, France, part of the 1930 MOTHERS PILGRAMAGE.
He also had one brother LISS OR LESS CURRY, and one brother JESS or JAKE
CURRY. I did visit Tolu Kentucky several years ago, and found the graves
of my great grandparents. I would like to connect with anyone that is
part of the TINSLEY or CURRY family! My grandfather reared his family in
Southern Illinois, and we never had any contact with the TINSLEY
families. I look forward to hearing from "back in the old county"!

Crittenden, KY who was married to Eliza DEBOE (b. <1819) also of Marion.
They had a daughter named Velenia (or Velena) Jerine HILL (b Sept 24,
1841 in Marion) who married John WOODALL (b. Aug 5, 1835, Sangamon
County, IL). They had 13 children: James, William, Ida, Ann, Susan,
Thomas (my husband's grandfather), Irene, Milton, Robert, Elza, Alfred,
Laura, and Mina. All were born in Marion. John WOODALL's parents were
James WOODALL (b. <1809 in Sangamon Co, IL) and Ellender DEBOE (b. <1813
in Sangamon Co, IL. It appears there are DEBOES on both sides. Anyone out

searching for a Charles S.Cain,supposedly born in 1796, who married Ellen
Stewart. They supposedly had seven children to include Dr. W. S.
Cain(born 01-26-1827), Rutledge or Charles Rutledge(born08-04-1832),
SArah, Marion, and Margaret Theresa, and the other two I am not sure of.
Any information on these people would be greatly appreciated. There is a
C. R. Cain and wife Martha buried in Mt. Zion cemetery. C. r. Cain was
supposedly a methodist minister as told by a family member. I am looking
for proof of that and a link to Rutledge and Guy Cain in the late 1800's
to early 1900's. Lewis Melton Cain was the son of Guy Cain and Sally
Brown Cain. Lewis Melton was born October 8, 1902 and had a brother
named Robert who is buried in Mt. Zion or Dunn Srings, and a sister named
Naomi Cain Maddox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to find a death record on a John Tate who died in Kentucky in
1902. He has two wives buried at Ark Royal Lodge Cemetery at Caseyville
but there is no record for him being buried there. His parents lived in
Crittenden Co. and He had lived most of his life around Sturgis, Ky as
he owned and operated a mine there but seems to have disappeared after
the sale of the mine. He had a daughter Mary Ann Tate who married a
Leonard Davis Smith who was a barber and grocer at Graham, Kentucky.
They had a daughter Carlin who was married to O.C.Whitfield who was a
state senator for two terms. Most all of his children and family are
buried at Madisonville, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Cemetery and Caseyville. I
have not been able to find any info on him regarding his death other than
they say he died in 1902. If anyone can be of help to me please write,

by her grandfather who was William Riley Lynn. He was born in TN. 1826-
1827 and died "North of Salem, Ky in Crittenden county." I would love to
know who Nellie Ann's real father was although she took on the name of
her stepfather. It is said by family that Mary loved a young man very
much but her family ran him off.
Wm. J. Burton and Mary Lynn married in Crittenden Co. 1872 and their

consisted of unknown first named husband, born in Kentucky, unknown first
name mother, born in Illinois. Three children were born to the OLIVER
family; a son Lee, born 1886 and two daughters Allie, born about 1900 and
Laura, born about 1904. The parents died about 1896 and the children
were raised by relatives. Laura, my grandmother, is found in 1910 in
Dunklin Co., MO in the household of Robert & Miranda (Veatch) OLIVER.
Allie was reportedly raised by her grandparents - paternal or maternal I
don't know. It is not known where or by whom Lee was taken in. Any help

(born july 3, l898) in Tolu KY. Not 100% positive, but I don't think
Laura had any other children. George seems to have disappeared
immediately after Laura's death. Laura's sister, Cordia (who had married
a HUMPHREY, his first named ended with ld, like in Harold) raised Grace
thereafter. Cordia sometime later became blind. The Lynn sisters were
full Cherokee, and believe McGloffin was also. I've been told by my
father there wasn't a birth certificate for Grace. Any info, no matter

searching for searching for the date of death of my Great Grandmother,
Nancy (Baldwin) Young.
Nancy married Joseph Young July 29, 1863 in Crittenden County.
Two daughters were born, Elizabeth in 1865, and Henry Ellen born in March
29,1888. Nancy died shortly after the birth of her second child, Joseph
married Mrs. Susan Bryant in Crittenden County February 13, 1870. They
had a child Charles Young born in 1870. They moved to Stoddard County,
Missouri somewhere about this time, and Joseph died. Susun then married
Stephen Seiber in that county in 1873, so Joseph probably died within a
year of that marriage.
Anyone who could find the date of death of Nancy, whose father was Henry

clue of the death date of Joseph please write also.
After her marriage to Seiber, they eventually moved to Webster Co.
Missouri and are in the 1880 census there.
In the Crittenden County records a Militia is listed, and there is a
Joseph Young in that list, which could be the person named.
He served in Company B, First Illinois Cavalry Volunteers, Filmore
Batallion, and was discharged for disability. He enlisted in Smithlain,
KY and mustered in at Paducah, Ky.

I am descended of a female by the name of Thomas Victoria Kilgore. She
was named after her father. I know her mother's name was Mary Louisa
Simpson, she was born 14 February 1847 in Marion, Crittendon Co., KY. The
couple were not married (so I am not sure I can use her maiden name as
Kilgore)... and due to the fact that Mary was carrying her lover's child,
Mary's brother, whom I believe was James Simpson, a school teacher,
stabbed and killed Thomas Kilgore in a train yard. Thomas Victoria was
born 2 Dec. 1866 in Webster Co., KY and the incident happened in Paducah,
KY...
I have found the 1870 census record of Mary Louisa in her marriage to
Harrison Raleigh Edmonson ( who fathered my gr-gr-gr grandmothers 1/2
brothers and sisters...they are Hubbard Acles b. 1872 and married Naomi
Col, Nora Alice b. 1875 who married Richard Allen Betts and Mary Florence
b. 1878 who married Forrest T. Graef) but surely she would be listed in
1860 with her family of Simpson?!?! ...I cannot find her parents....Can

anyone out there if you know of any information on a John Tate and his
wife Mary Ann (Baxter) Tate. They lived in Crittenden Co, where he was a
coal miner, orginally coming from Durham Co., England where he was a
pitman, and they died in Crittenden co. in 1851 of the Cholera. They had
a son named John also, who had to take care of younger siblings when they
died. He later became a well known coal miner in Union Co. If anyone
can help would love to hear from you as I have not been able to get over
that brick wall for a long long time now.

I have
been looking for this LIVELL name for over 30 years. It has been my own
brick wall. I recently found the KY Death Index 1911-1996 and it showed
a Allice LIVELL that died on 11 Mar 1925 at the age of 66 in Crittenden
County. It said she was 66 years old when she died. (See Vol. 25,
certificate 03203.
If anyone can help me locate any information on her I would sure
appreciate it. My grandfather said he changed his name when he ran away
from home. He lived his later life out as Harry LIVELL. I have found
this name also as a given name. I'm hoping he may have taken his
mother's name when he ran away.
Thanks in advance for any and all help. I know its alot of work. (Until

following children in Tenn.: Elisabith C. born 1842,Margaret (?). born
1843, Nancy born 1845,and James H. born 1848, and Andrew J. born 1854.
They moved Kentucky after 1854, and had Mary S.and William E. born 1857
and 1860. They are shown on the 1860 Crittenden County , Dycusburg
Census. QUESTION: Does any one have any information about Dolpha, Andrew,

Looking for any information available on Eugene J. MORRILL (1894-1983).
(also know as Richard or Dick). Born, lived and died in Crittenden
County (Marion).He was married to Willie Melba Cannan (1898-1951). His
father died when he was very young. His mother Alice Crow remarried to
Oscar Eskew. Alice Crow and Eugene Morrill's ancestors are eluding me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

CT in 1639 with the Henry Whitfield Company. Wondering if a branch of
that Abraham Cruttendene family settled in Crittenden Co., KY, or if
perhaps some arrived at a different time, yet came from Cranbrook (Kent)
UK.
I live in Berkshire Co. Massachusetts where Ichabod Cruttenden settled in
