I am looking for my great grandfather Jessie (Jesse) Brice. He says that he was born in Kentucky and in other places says Tennessee. The 1850 Kentucky census index lists three families of Brices living in Crittendon County KY. Does anyone have access to this census record and can you tell me the names of the children? Also does anyone have access to the 1860 census? Were these families still in Crittendon county then? Jessie wasn't born until about 1854. The families I have in the index include James Brice, John Brice, and Samuel W. Brice.

His wife, Elizabeth Christine Sloane (or Sloat), came to be a beloved aged figure in Marion, known as "Granny Douglas." She lived from 1822 to 1917 (born in Delhi, Ohio; died in Marion). The Douglases had a daughter, Clara Finanda Douglas, who married William George Carnahan. N. B. Douglas was my great-great grandfather. Would be interested in a place of burial for him as well.

I'm looking into info on Greenberry Howard and his descendants, one of whom, grandfather Adger W. Howard is buried at the Tyner Chapel with my grandmother Lillian Tommy Howard. I am a descendant of Adger, and am uncertain as to who his parents are, though I know that his mother was a Brown. Adger's brothers are Ayres, Ben, and Twinkle Truitt. Twinkle's middle name suggests that his (and Adger's) mother was a Truitt, either daughter or grandaughter, though I believe that Adger's and Twinkle's mother was also a Brown.
Adger's first wife is buried at the Tyner chapel, as is his second wife. They share the Bass surname, and are related as cousin or neice/aunt. They are: Lillian Tommy Bass b 6/18/86, m 1905the tombstone is hard to read for death date, but Lillian Tommy was in her 20's; Bettie/Betty Bass, b 6/26/96, m 1922, died in mid 1970's.
There is another burial spot that Grandma Bettie told me about that is in the Kirk Bluff area: the Wring or Ring cemetary. My siter Tommy Lynn tells me that a burial ground for the Howards was mowed under at one time, and the crude headstones made of stones from the field, were moved or disrupted. This burial ground may be the Wring/Ring cemetary that Bettie told me about.
I am uncertain of the lineage of g-grandmother (or g-g-grandmother) Brown (or Truitt), as well as info on Greenberry Howard and a Howard (male) link between Adger and Greenberry. I have seen pictures of Greenberry and Hiram Howard at the family home in Crittenden county (Emmaus or Amos Rd, now), and I have the pictures of the 4 boys Adger, Ben, Ayers, and Twinkle Truitt in the entrance-way to my Annapolis MD home.
I was last in Ky 2 yrs ago in an unfortunately short stay, and hope to come again for a more liesurely look at beautiful Crittenden County. It was those spar-fields and the unique Crittenden soil that prompted me to study Agronomy at Iowa State and chemistry at MIT. I have many very interesting samples at home, and have found many other minerals in the spar, which I'm sure is known to those who used to work in the spar mines and ore separation places, but I sometimes wonder of the heavy metal problems of the work sites.

DAVIDSON FRANKLIN
I am trying to find the parents of J. Arch Davidson and Lucy Franklin Davidson. They were married March 15, 1861. Their children were J. Anthony, a doctor; Elizabeth Carter, Ida Stevens, Henrietta Taylor, Sarah Davidson, William, Wallace and Grant. Arch died in Levias. He was Assessor of Crittenden County when he died. Anthony had also been Assessor when he died two years before his father. I would be very thankful to anyone giving me information on this family. Arch's obit. was in the Critt. Press on Feb. 18, 1909. Lucy, Arch and Anthony have one tombstone in Union Baptist Cemetery. It is a tall one and looks very new, but the base is very old. I would appreciate any help you can give me on an early Clark family residing in Crittenden County during the 1820's-1830's. My family of Clarks came into middle Tennessee during the 1820's. My ancestor, Thomas Anderson Clark stayed in Smith County, Tn. Their migration started from Halifax,Va. A first cousin of my grandfather who was in his 70's in the 1950's stated that two of Thomas Anderson Clark's brothers settled near Marion,Ky. Brother #1 (I don't know his first name) had at least two sons. One was named James or James Riley. One brother was a Baptist minister and the other a Missionary Minister. Brother #2 was named Robin who also settled near Marion, Ky. He did not marry and died while living there. This is all the information I have. Glen Leslie (and some determination on my part) I've collected a lineage back to Tapley HOWERTON (HOWERINGTON) in North Carolina (1812). The family migrated to South Carolina by 1814 and to Tennessee by 1816. I can place them in Livingston County in 1834 and the earliest record I have from Crittenden County is 1874. Searching for information on Mary A. Hill, Livingston/Crittenden County, KY areas. Her mother may have been Arnetta Hill, father unknown. Mary A. Hill married John W. Howell 11 Feb 1852 in Livingston County, KY. She was the widow of Thomas Lillard. I find them in the 1860 Hardin County, IL census with children. One of the children was Mary J., born about 1849. Could this child have been the child of her marriage to Thomas Lillard. Any information about this family would be much appreciated. Jean Smallwood

His first wife was Nancy Elizabeth Millikan, also born in Jefferson Co., TN. Their daughter, Frances Adeline (my great grandmother), m. Wilhelm Watzke in Crittenden Co. Another daughter, Mary E. Bettis, married Irwin Thompson, and a third daughter, Ida, married a man named Stone. Sons included Pleasant E. Judson Bettis and Duke, Jr. I think there was also a third son. Jacob W. Bettis, who lived many years in Crittenden Co., was apparently a brother to Duke, Sr. Any information about any of these people would be helpful. Also belived to have Hopkins Co. connection are Simon Devers b 1806 in TN or KY, married to Jane (Dillender)??? b. 1810 in TN. They are also listed in 1850 Hopkins Census. Any info. would be helpful.
Daviss McClain White maried 1878 to Manereie Crider. County unknown. Daviss McClain White may have had siblings??? named Ed or Lehman White. Ed or Edd may be an uncle and a brother. These two have been hiding from me for 12 years.
They are the grandparents of my Grandmother. Her mother was Francis Elizabeth White, b. 1881 in Crittenden Co. and married David Goodwin Utley in 1900. David G. Utley b. 1882 in Crittendon Co.
One or more of these lines colud be of Native American Lineage.
