                            1858

The following entries were transcribed from Crittenden County
Court Order Book 2 (1852-1861).

12 Apr 1858:  This day SIMON ULMAN an alien personally
appeared in Court and upon his Solemn Oath made the following
declaration of his intention to become a Citizen of the United
States   On or about the ___ day of May 1853 from Hunlunden
Prusia that it was Bonafide his intention to become a Citizen
of the U.S. and to Renounce forever all allegiance and
fidelity to any foreign Prince  Potentate  State or
Sovereignty whatever and particularly William King of
Hunlunden Prusia ....

12 Apr 1858:  This day BENEDICT HINA Personally appeared
in Court and upon his Solemn oath made the following declaration
of his Intention to become a Citizen of the United States to wit
that he came to the United States on or about the ___ day of
July 1853 from Baden Germany that it was Bonafide his Intention
to become a citizen of the U.S. and to Renounce forever all
allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince  Potentate 
State of Sovereignty whaterver and particularly Grand Duke of
Bade ...

12 Apr 1858:  This day JOSEPH CRAMER an Alien appeared in Court
and from his Solemn oath made the following declaration of his
Intention to become a citizen of the United States to wit  that
he came to the U.S. on or about the 4th day of Novr 1851 from 
Bavaria that it was Bonafide his Intention to become a citizen
of the U.S. and to Renounce all allegiance and fidelity to
any foreign Prince  Potentate  State or Sovereignty whatever and
particularly the King of Bavaria ....

12 Apr 1858:  This day John KELLER an alien appeared in Court and
upon his solemn oath made the following declaration of his
Intention to become a citizen to wit  that he came to the United
States on or about the 15th day of Feb 1854 from Bavaria that it
was Bonafide his Intention to become a citizen of the the U.S.
and to Renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign 
Prince  Potentate State or Sovereignty and particularly Maxmilia
King of Bavaria ...

12 Apr 1858:  This day AMBROSE NEEL an Alien personally appeared 
in Court and upon his Solemn oath made the following declaration
of his Intention to become a Citizen of the United States to wit
that he came to the U.S. on or about the 8th day of August 1853
from Glasgow in Scotland that it was Bonafide his intention to
become a citizen of the U.S. and to Renounce allegiance and
fidelity to any foreign Prince Potentate State or Sovereignty
whatever and in particular Victoria Queen of England Scotland ...

10 May 1858:  This day GEORGE RILEY appeared in Court and on his
Solemn oath declared that he came to the United States from Hessa
Cassel on or about the ___ day of Oct 1847 while a minor under
the age of 21 years that he hath resided in the U.S. for the
span of 3 years previous to his arrival at such age  that it was
Bonafide his intention to become a citizen of the U.S. and to
renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince
Potentate State of Sovereignty and particulary ___ Electorate
of Hessa Cassel whereof he is a citizen and subject and that for
3 years past such has been his intention and that sd. GEORGE
RILEY having also on his oath declared that he will support the
Constitution of the U.S. and that he doth absolutely and
entirely Renounce all allegiance to every foreign prince ...
and having adduced satisfactory proof to the court that he hath
resided in the U.S. for 9 years past that for the first 3 years
of that period he was a minor under the age of 21 that during
that period he has behaved as a man of good moral character
attached to the principals of the Consitution of the U.S. ...
whereupon the sd. GEORGE RILEY is declared to be and is hereby
admitted a citizen of the United States ...

14 Jun 1858:  This day JOSEPH HINA appeared in Court and on his
solemn oath declared that he came from Baden on or about the ___
day of ___ while a minor under the age of 21 years that he hath
resided in the United States for the span of 3 years previous
... that it was Bonafide his Intention to become a citizen of
the U.S. and to renounce forever all allegiance to any foreign
Prince Potentate State or Sovereignty particularly Electorate
of Baden whereof he is a citizen and subject ... and having 
adduced satisfactory proof to the court that hath resided in
the U.S. for 3 years past that for the first three years of
that period he was a minor and under age ... and the said JOSEPH
HINA is declared to be and is hereby admitted a citizen of the
United States ...

13 Sep 1858:  This day PATICK DUFFIE appeared in open Court and
produced a certificate from the Clerk of Crittenden Circuit
Court duly authenticated showing that he had on the 26th day
of 1856 in the Crittenden Circuit Court made the necessary
Declaration of his intention to become a citizen of the United
States of America and having declared on oath that he will 
support the Constitution of the U.S. and that he doth absolutely
and entirely renounce all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign
Prince potentate state or Sovereignty whatever and Particularly
Victoria Queen of England & Ireland whereof he was last a 
subject and having produced to the court satisfactory evidence
of his having resided in the U.S. 5 years at least and in this
state 1 year at least & that during that time he has behaved as
a man of Good Moral Character attached to the principles of the
Constitution of the U.S. and well disposed to the good order 
and happiness of the same  Whereupon the sd. PATRICK DUFFIE is
declared to be and is hereby admitted a Citizen of the U.S.
