Good Man Gone To His Reward
Lowery Stephens Passes Away Near Seventy Years of Age
Was Born In Caldwell County But Resided in Trigg For Thirty Three Years
Mr. W. L. Stephens, brief mention on of whose death was made in THE RECORD last week, died on the morning of August 17, 1927, at his home five miles south of Cadiz.
Tuberculosis caused his death. Mr. Stephens had been in declining health for eight of nine years past. However, he continued to do his usual work until near a year ago, when his condition began to grow rapidly worse, and the end was not a surprise to his family and friends.
Mr. Stephens was a native of Caldwell county and was born in Blue Spring neighborhood the 17th of September 1856. He was the son of John Stephens his mother being Lucinda Gray before her marriage.
He grew to manhood in Caldwell county and for four years was a resident of Lyon. Thirty three years ago last Christmas he moved to Trigg county and had resided here ever since.

MRS. STEPHENS, 102, DIES AT CADIZ; FUNERAL HELD
Funeral service were held here Monday for MRS. NANNIE MITCHELL STEPHENS, 102, who died here at 2 a.m.
Sunday.
Mrs. Stephens would have been 103 years old on May 10. she had been ill for the past two months but before that time had been able to wait on herself and take automobile rides on Sunday afternoon.
She was a member of the Liberty Point Baptist Church. the Rev. O.J. Outland pastor of the church, officiated at the services which were held at the Goodwin Funeral Home. He was assisted by Rev. J. Norman Ellis.
Burial was in Lawrence Cemetery in Trigg County. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Lora Terrell; with whom he made her home; a son Homer Stephens of Portland, Ore; 20 grandchildren, 30 great - grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
