SOPHER
SAMUEL M SOPHER
Thomas N. Bateman, a private in troop A, Second United State Cavalry, shot and killed First Sergeant Samuel M. Sopher, of the same troop in the barracks at San Francisco.
Bateman was from Flemingsburg, Ky. He will be turned over to the civil authorities for trial.
