Paducah News
Mrs Lizzie Lawrence Singleton, who passed away yesterday at 2 o'clock at her home in this city, was born in 1823. Her parents were among the first settlers of Western Tennessee, she being the first white child born in Memphis.
At eighteen years of age she was married in Christian county, this state, where she had moved with her parents, to Mr Radford, whose early death left her widowed with one son Mr Lawrence Radford, since deceased, the father of Miss Lizzie Radford, of Mississippi.
In 1848 she met and married Dr. S.F. Singleton, of this city, where she has since resided, respected and beloved by the entire community.
She was a lady of high mental endowment which coupled with a rare grace of soul and a refined tenderness of feeling made her a type of pure womanhood and the ideal mother, spreading her love over all the motherless that came within her reach. But the grand, earnest faithful life is ended on earth.
