Bettye Mae Yates Quarles, 86, East Second Street, died at about 7 p.m. Tuesday at Jennie Stuart Medical Center following a long illnes.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Adams and Sons Mortuary, with Dr. Richard Mumford officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Memoral Gardens.
A native of Christian County she was born March 6, 1912, the daughter of the late Frank "Bud" Yates and Mary Haris McNary. She was a retired teacher, having taught for 40 years at both Attucks High School and Hopkinsville High School.
She was a member and trustee of the Original Church of God, assistant treasurer for the international Church of God's state body and at one time was on the advisory council for RSVP. She was also active in the local chapter of the American Red Cross. Her husband, Matthew Quarles, died in 1989.
