TRENTON, Ky. _ Susie Mobley McCanless, 93, Fountain Hill, Ariz., formerly of Beltsville, Md., and Trenton, died of natural causes at 1:45 a.m. Thursday at a health care center in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Edgewood Cemetery, Trenton, with Tom McLeod officiating.
No visitation is scheduled. Martin Funeral Home, Elkton, is in charge of arrangements.
A native of Elkton, she was born Feb. 28, 1903, daughter of late James Blanton and Mec Hester Mobley.
According to Christian County historian William Turner, she was reared by Noble and Mollie O. Daniel Wood, who were Trenton hardware merchants. Wood was the son of Curtis D. Wood, the first child born in Hopkinsville to Bartholomew and Martha Ann Wood, the original settlers of Hopkinsville.
She was a member of the University Park Church of Christ, Hyattsville, Md., and the Beltsville, Md., Young At Heart Club. Her husband, Robert Dee McCanless, died in 1974, and a son, Alden W. McCanless, died in January 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. George (Mary) Weir, Wilmington, Del.; and four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
