SHELBY R. MART

             CADIZ, Ky. -- Shelby Rodman Mart, 74,
             Cadiz, died at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2000, at
             Jennie Stuart medical Center following a long
             illness.

             Services were scheduled at 1 this afternoon at
             Goodwin Funeral Home, with the Rev. Billy Hart
             officiating. Burial was to be in Trigg Memory
             Acres.

             A native of Muhlenberg County, he was born Aug.
             25, 1925, the son of the late Burrell Basset and
             Mamie Pearl Guthrie Mart. He was a painter and
             was a Baptist.

             Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Mart; a son,
             Shelby Joe Mart, Cadiz; two daughters, Mrs. John
             (Wanda) Deloach, Mrs. Robert (Tina) McCluskey,
             both of Cadiz; a brother, Dabney Mart, Detroit,
             Mich.; three sisters, Laura Jones and Margaret
             McAllister, both of Cadiz, Ann Kenneda,
             Michigan; and five grandchildren.

Mr. G.M. Mart, of Henderson county, was in the city yesterday looking for one Lee McElroy, colored, who murdered W.J. Mart near Henderson, two weeks ago.
McElroy and Mart started out of town together, and subsequently Mart was found with his brains knocked out and the negro has not been seen since. Mr.. Mart, the brother of the murdered man, says the negro was in Madisonville Thursday. He is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, heavy set, scar under one eye and has a crippled hand.
