Hopkinsville, Ky Pennyrile Deaths
Roy A. Henson, 77, Crofton, died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000, at the Senior Citizens Nursing Home, Madisonville, following a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Crofton, with the Rev. Alan Hopper officiating. Burial will be in Ridgetop Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight.
A native of Stewart County, Tenn., he was born Nov. 7, 1922, the son of the late Edward Oscar and Martha Elizabeth Lyle Henson. He was a former mechanic for Young Brothers, was a World War II Navy veteran and was a former Crofton city judge who served several terms in office after having been appointed by Gov. Edward Breathitt following the death of a former judge. He was a Methodist. A daughter, Linda Sue Henson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Verna Davis Henson; four sons, Patrick J. and Harold L Henson, both of Crofton, Roy a. Henson Jr., Greenville, Thomas E. Henson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; three daughters, Brenda J. Young, Madisonville, Carolyn J. Barnes, Huntsville, Ala., Bettye J. Swinney, Lewisburg, Tenn.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
