Mrs. Frances E. ELLIOTT, widow of the late William H. Elliott, died Wednesday morning, at the residence of Mr. John W.BARKER, near Kennedy, aged 84 years. She was the mother of Mr. Thomas H. Elliott, of Lafayette. For fifty years or more she had been a member of the Methodist church. Her funeral services were held yesterday morning at 10 o'clock and she was buried at the old family burying ground

79 Year Old Resident Dies in Stewart County, Tenn, Funeral services were held Wednesday.
Funeral services were held Wednesday for William L. Elliott, 79 year old resident of the Stewart County, Tenn who died April 23, 1940. Mr Elliott was well known in the community in which he resided and his death was indeed a blow to all that knew him. When just a young man, he united with the Shady Grove Baptist Church and was an active member in that organization until his death.
He was married to Miss Hulda Sumner and to this union were born seven children. Besides the widow, the following survive; Two daughters, Mrs Emma Rogers and Mrs Dessie Morgan; four sons, Lewis Dewey, Kelly and Fred Elliott; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs Ida Frizzell, Cadiz. A son Charles died three years ago.
Funeral and burial took place at the Carr graveyard on Wednesday April 24, with Rev. L.L. Spurlin in charge. A large crowd was present for the last rites. Ridgeway and Milligan was undertakers in charge.
