Mrs Mary A. Dunn Dies Saturday
Well Known Lady of Flat Lick Community Dies Following Pneumonia
Mrs Mary Anne Dunn, wife of William R. DUNN, died last Saturday morning about two o'clock at her home in the Flat Lick section of this county.
She had flu about twelve days be for her death. Nine days before the end came double pneumonia developed. This was the immediate cause of her death, which came as a relief from great suffering although she made a brave struggle to live.
Mrs Dunn was the fourth daughter of the late Starkie A. THOMAS and Inez Miller THOMAS. She was born Aug. 26, 1890 near Oak Grove and spent her childhood and girlhood there.
At the age of twenty with her widowed mother and younger sister, she moved to Cadiz to make her home.
In April 1912 Mrs Dunn was united in marriage to Robert Hunter Mitchell and went to the Roaring Spring community to live. This union was blessed with two sons. The oldest died in infancy. Douglas MITCHELL is the surviving son.
In September, 1926 Mr Mitchell passed away. She was married to Mr W.R. DUNN in 1928, who survives.
She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs D. Floyd SUMNER, Mrs J.O. SUMNER, and Mrs J.C. HUMPHRIES, nine nieces and nephews and a daughter in law.
Mrs Dunn united with Oak Grove Baptist Church early in
life and held her membership there at the time of her death. Although Mrs Dunn had many afflictions to bear in this life, she met them with true Christian courage and fortitude. She tried to make not only her immediate family, but everyone with whom she came in contact happy. In every community in which she lived she made many lasting friendships. She was an unselfish character. She gave her time her life for others.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Bailey Davis, Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at the home of a sister, Mrs Floyd Sumner, six miles south of Cadiz. The pall bearers were: Messrs. Raymond Sumner, John Dunn, Alex Dunn, Thomas Sumner, Ira L. Humphries and Erwin Thomas. There amid the scenes of her happy childhood years she was laid to rest in the family burying ground. A large number of friends and relatives were present to pay a last tribute of respect to a good woman.
