Services for Joseph "Joe" Allen Caldwell, 59, a former sports editor for the Kentucky New Era, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Henry's Catholic Church
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Marshal-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home.
He died after suffeering an apparent massive heart attack Saturday morning at St. Thomas Hospital.
A native of Hopkinsville, he was born Nov. 19, 1938, the son of the late Allen Taylor and Maxine Blythe Caldwell. After working in the mid-1960's at the NEW ERA, Caldwell worked at the Lexington Herald-Leader before joining the staff of the Nashville Banner in 1970.
He joined the copy dest of the Tennissean shortly after the Banner closed earlier this year.
He was an Air Force veteran. Survibors include his wife Carol Caldwell; a daughter, Candi Jo Caldwell, Nashville; two stepdaughters, Kelley McGrady and Bridgett McGrady and two stepsons, Michael McGrady and Keith McGrady, all of Nashville.
