Died Thursday 13 April 1978 in his home.
Born in Christian Co. 26 September 1892, son of John and Minerva Elizabeth Hamby Brown.
Member of First United Methodist church, served as the last Republican sheriff in Christian Co. from 1929 until 1933. Retired in 1963 from the Army Corps of Engineers in Nashville, TN. Lived most of his life in Hopkinsville.
Survivors: his wife, Lois Adams Brown; two daughters, Sarah Mitchell of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Emmy Lou Floyd of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Eldora Tweddell of Ashland; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Services: Friday 14 April 1978, burial in Riverside Cem.

             Brown, 60, Madisonville, died Monday, Jan.
             29, 2001, in Madisonville of natural causes.
             Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Harris
             Funeral Home, Madisonville, with the Rev. Ellis
             Payne officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 8
             tonight and from 8 a.m. Thursday until time for the
             service.
             Among her survivors are a son, Jeff Winebarger,
             Hopkinsville and a sister, Eloise Moore, Dawson
             Springs.

CHARLES J. BROWN
Charles R. Brown, 81, of the Audubon Inn died at 10 p.m. Thursday at Community Methodist Hospital.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Jane Brackett of South Bend, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Sandefur of Beech Grove and Lillie Edwards of Burbanks, Calif.; two brothers, Carl Brown of Evansville and Mitchell Brown of Golita, Calif.; five grand children, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Marvin Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Dunn? Cemetery. Friends may call anytime.

Mr. D. TAYLOR BROWN died Tuesday night after an illness of a month or more. He was 80 years of age and had lived most of his life in this city. He lived in Todd county for awhile and was sheriff for one term. He was deputy sheriff of this county for a number of years and was constable of the Pembroke districtfor a long time. He leaves several children, one of his sons, Mr. E.H. Brown, being with Richards and Co. Mr. Brown was one of the oldest and best known citizens of Hopkinsville. His funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the residence on Liberty street, Rev. H.C. Settle officiating. Interment Hopewell Cemetery.

             Eddie B. Brown, 64, Johnston Street, died at
             5:12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000, at Jennie
             Stuart Medical Center emergency room of natural
             causes.
             Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gamble
             Funeral Home, with the Rev. Oliver Blane
             officiating. Burial will be in LaFayette Cemetery.
             Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday and be
             from 6 until 7 in the evening with Masonic rites.
             A native of Hoganville, Ga., he was born Dec. 13,
             1935, the son of the late John and Lou Arthur
             Brown. He was retired from Phelps Dodge where
             he had worked for 35 years, and had also served
             15 years in the Army. He was a member of the
             Midage Social Club, the Attucks Elks Lodge, was a
             Mason and was a member of the St. Paul CME
             Church in Georgia.
             Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Blane Brown;
             a daughter, Myra Henry, LaGrange, Ga.; two
             grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The little thirteen month old child of Fran BRPWN, died last Sunday evening at Sturgis and was brought here Monday for burial.
Mr Brown formerly lived in Princeton and his friends sympathize with him in his bereavement.

             Brown, 81, Crofton, died at 12:30 a.m.
             Monday, April 2, 2001, at the New Dawson
             Springs Nursing Home of natural causes.
             Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Beshear
             Funeral Home with the Revs. Alan Hopper and
             John Russell officiating. Burial will be in Hawkins
             Cemetery, Christian County. Visitation will be
             from 6 until 9 tonight and from 9 a.m. Wednesday
             until time for the funeral.
             A native of Muhlenberg County, she was born Feb.
             18, 1920, the daughter of the late Charles Lee and
             Lalia Butler Croft. She was a homemaker and
             during World War II had worked in a Denver,
             Colo., defense plant as a ‘'Rosie Riveter.'' She was
             a Pentecostal. In more recent years she had worked
             at Outwood Hospital and the Pennyrile State
             Resort Park.
             Survivors include her husband, Leonard Brown; a
             son, Robert Brown, Dawson Springs; a daughter,
             Wanda Tuggle, Crofton; two brothers, Robert
             Norman Croft, Calvert City, Wilmoth F. Croft,
             Spokane, Wash.; one grandchild, one
             great-grandchild and two stepgrandchildren.

             PRINCETON, Ky. -- Graveside services for
             Gerthie Dalton Brown, 72, Caldwell County,
             were to be at 11 this morning at Cedar Hill
             Cemetery with Mark Engler officiating.
             Visitation was to begin at 9 a.m. at Morgan's
             Funeral Home.
             She died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2000, at
             Princeton Health Care Manor following a long
             illness.
             A native of Caldwell County, she was born Dec.
             25, 1927, the daughter of the late Hewlett and Ella
             Goodaker Jackson. She was a self-employed
             housekeeper. Her first husband, Marvin Dalton,
             died in 1993.
             Survivors include her husband, William ‘'Pete''
             Brown and a brother, Denzil Jackson, Princeton.

             Homer Brown Jr., 71, Henderson Drive, died
             at 4:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2000, at St.
             Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tenn., following a
             brief illness.
             Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First United
             Methodist Church, with the Revs. Thomas W.
             Eblen, Sawn Gee and the Rev. Dr. Howard Willen
             officiating. Burial will be in Princeton Memorial
             Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 tonight at
             Hughart and Beard Funeral Home, Hopkinsville.
             A native of Dawson Springs, he was born Feb. 26,
             1929, the son of the late William Homer Brown Sr.
             and Hazel Croft Brown. He was owner and
             operator of Brownco Products for 20 years and had
             been employed at Thomas Industries. He was a
             World War II Army veteran, was a past president
             and past vice president of Kentucky Western
             Waterlands. Was a member of the Veteran of
             Foreign Ward and the First United Methodist
             Church.
             Survivors include his wife, Mattie Lou Brown; a
             daughter, Cindi B. Thomas, Louisville; a brother,
             Buddy Brown, Danville and three grandchildren.
             Memorials may be made to the Chancel Choir or
             the organ renovation fund at First United Methodist

             died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at
             St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tenn., following a
             brief illness.

             Hensley, Kansas City, Mo., Judy Allen, Paulette
             Young and Terri Wells, all of Hopkinsville; three

Phillip Brown 68, Nashville, Tn, and Hopkinsville died Thursday night at Southern Hills Medical Center, Nashville, of natural causes.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Maddux Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, with the Rev, Robert stinson officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Memorial Garden.
A native of Chicago, he was born Nov. 10, 1929, son of the late Lester and Madelind Desmet Brown. He was a retired Technical Sergent with the U.S. AirForce, having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Ouida Brown, one daughter, Gini Langham, Kingston Springs, Tenn.; one brother, Lawrence Brown, Irvine, Calif.; one sister, Nancy Brown, Anaheim, Calif., and on grandchild.

     QUEEN S. BROWN
             Queen Sharber Brown, 97, Harbor City, Calif.,
             formerly of Christian County, died Saturday,
             Aug. 26, 2000, at Sun Bridge Care Center,
             Torrance, Calif., of natural causes.
             Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at
             Haley Mills Mormon Cemetery in Christian
             County, with Bishop Brian Adams officiating.
             J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Murray, is in charge
             of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
             A native of Christian County, she was born Nov.
             23, 1902, the daughter of the late Jonathan M. and
             Lavinia Manire Sharber. She was a genealogy
             recorder for the Mormon Church for many years
             and was a member of the Los Angeles Mormon
             Temple. Her husband, Dudley Milton Brown, died
             in 1968.
             Survivors include a son, Milton Evan Brown,
             Harbor City; a grandson and two granddaughters,
             five great-grandchildren and eight
             great-great-grandchildren.

             died Sunday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2000, at the
             General Care Convalescent Center, Clarksville,
             Tenn., of natural causes.

             A native of Butler, Ala., she was born Jan. 22,
             1922, the daughter of the late James and Magnolia
             Hopkins Ray. She was a homemaker and a member
             of the New Era Baptist Church, Meridian, Miss.,
             and attended Edgefield Baptist Church. She was a
             member of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Sol
             Brown, preceded her in death.
             Survivors include two sons, Benjamin May,
             Clarksville, Tenn., Sylvester May, Ellisville,
             Miss.; a daughter, Irma Jean May, Clinton, Miss.; a
             brother, Charles Ray, Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister,
             Jennie Andrade, Providence, R.I.; and five
             grandchildren.

RITA NEAL BROWN
CENTRAL CITY, Ky. — Rita Neal Brown, 44, died Friday, June 11, 1999, of cancer at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was Baptist.
She had been president of the Central City American Legion Post Post 61 Ladies Auxiliary for 12 years.
Surviving are her husband, Terry Sr.; a son, Terry Jr. of Central City; two sisters, Kay Markwell of Central City and Margaret Yurkco of Evansville; a half sister, Betty Jo Howard of Michigan; a brother, Bobby Neal of Central City; a half brother, James Myers of Moorman; two grandchildren, Colby and Terri Lynn Brown; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be private, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Tucker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

             Roberta Louise White Brown, 55, Charlie
             Court, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001,
             at Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.
             There will be no services or visitation. The body
             will be cremated. Hughart and Beard Funeral
             Home, Hopkinsville, is in charge of arrangements.
             A native of Pocatello, Idaho, she was born Nov.
             13, 1945, the daughter of the late John Edwin and
             Christine Cottrell White. She attended the First
             Baptist Church.
             Survivors include two sons, Stephen McKnight,
             California, Danny McKnight, Michigan; two
             sisters, Jackie Walker and Margo Brumfield, both
             of Hopkinsville and five grandchildren.

   ROBERT T. BROWN
             Robert T. Brown, 71, South Sunset Circle, died
             at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at St.
             Thomas Hospital, Nashville, Tenn., following a
             brief illness.
             Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter
             and Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald
             Baker officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill
             Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 until
             8 tonight at Hughart and Beard Funeral Home,
             Hopkinsville with a rosary to be said at 7 p.m.
             A native of Paterson, N.J., he was born July 16,
             1929, the son of the late Robert P. and Elizabeth
             Nino Brown. He came to Hopkinsville in 1976
             with Pellon Industries and was later associated
             with Trace Industries and retired from Pennyrile
             Industries. He had formerly owned and operated
             Baskin Robbins here for 17 years.
             He was a member of the board for Habitat for
             Humanity was a member and grand knight of the
             Knights of Columbus, was a member of St. Vincent
             Assembly in Henderson and chairman of the
             Kentucky Mental Retardation Foundation.
             Survivors include his wife, Helen W. Brown; two
             sons, Robert Brown, Thomson, Ga., Thomas
             Brown, Silverton, Ore.; five daughters, Patty
             Carter, Albertson, N.C., Mary Lou Manis, Hickory,
             N.C., Barbara Wilhite, Ocala, Fla., Peggy
             Beeckman, Jackson, Tenn., Joanie Harris, Paducah
             and 13 grandchildren.

Mr. Brown Dead
An Old and Respectable citizen Passes Away
BROWN
Mr. Thomas F. BROWN died at his home in this city yesterday morning at 9:15 o'clock of a cancer on his hand. Mr. Brown was the ninth of a family, of fifteen children of Thomas and Rebecca Brown. He was born in this county October 8, 1828, and lived here all of his life. In early life he devoted several years to school teaching, but in 1855 began the mercantile business, but soon sustained a loss of his business from fire. In 1858 he opened a grocery store in connection with his brother, John A. F. Brown which business he conducted for several years. Of late years he had been engaged in the monument business from which he retired a few weeks ago. Mr. Brown was one of ten brothers who reached manhood and in 1856 rode in the Christian county fair, as one of the drawing features for that year. They were all splendid specimens of physical development and were superbly mounted on horseback. Their mother was present to take pride in the attention her sons attracted. Thomas is the sixth of three brothers to pass away. The survivors are Gravener S., John A. F., Samuel M. and Milton D. Brown. The latter is the well known lawyer and Judge of the city, who was the youngest of the brothers, John lives in San Diego, Cal., the others still reside here near their boyhood home. The subject of this sketch was a men of most excellent character; of modest, unassuming disposition he performed his part in life in a quiet, unobtrusive way. He was a consistent member of the Methodist church. He leaves but one son, Mr. Robert H. Brown, a young man 27 years of age. His wife also survives him. The funeral services will be held this morning at 10 o'clock at the residence on East Seventh Street Interment at Hopewell Cemetery.

WILLIAM LEWIS BROWN
William (Willie) Lewis Brown, 329 Anderson St., died at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday at Welborn Baptist Hospital, Evansville.
He was a member and trustee of Trinity AME Zion Church, a member of St. John Lodge Number 4 and treasurer of the branch of NAACP.
He and his father, the late Joe Brown operated Brown and Son Standard Oil Station of Fifth and Elm street for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Rosetta Brown; one son, William L. Brown Jr., of Fruits, Colo.; a sister, Julia M. Brown of Henderson; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

             Willie "Billy'' Brown Jr., 67, Hopkinsville,
             died at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at
             Jennie Stuart Medical Center of natural causes.

             Hill Baptist Church, Herndon, with the Rev.
             Michael Torian officiating. Burial will be in the
             church cemetery. Visitation will be this afternoon
             and until 7 tonight at Gamble Funeral Home.
             A native of Christian County, he was born Dec. 15,
             1932, the son of the late Willie Brown Sr. and
             Annie Laura Brown. He was retired after having
             worked at the R.C. Owen Lumber Co., the William
             Pierce and Joe Altsheler farms and at Duraco. He
             was a member, deacon and treasurer of the Church
             Hill Baptist Church.
             Survivors include his wife, Martha Vaughn Brown;
             two sons, Herbert and Phillip Brown, both of
             Hopkinsville; three daughters, Sharon Brown
             Catlett, Laura Brown Knight and Allison Brown,
             all of Hopkinsville; three brothers, Hoses and
             James Brown, both of Hopkinsville, Henry Brown,
             Indianapolis; a sister, Ruth Brown, Hopkinsville;
             15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
