John Franklin Barber Dies Saturday Night
Servies Conducted at the Residence by Rev. Shirley Spahr
John F BARBER, 65, passed away quietly Saturday night at his home in Cadiz, following an illness of many months.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. Shirley Spahr, pastor of the Cadiz Baptist Church, at 5:00 o'clock p.m. Sunday and burial followed in the family lot in Hopkinsville cemetery.
Pall bearers were: Messrs J.S. Roberts, W.H. Rawls,John T. King, R.A. Magraw, Prentice Oliver and Marshall Aldridge.
In charge of the flowers were: Mrs Pames Sable, Mrs John Futrell, Mrs Prentice Oliver, Mrs Henry White, Mrs Jack Wharton, and Mrs Marvin Sills, Jr. Mr
Barber was born at Newstead in Christian County August 31, 1878.
He moved to Trigg County when a boy with his family, and thus lived in this county. He was a successful farmer and owned and operated his farm near Caledonia until eighteen months ago, when due to ill health he sold his farm and moved to the Waltrip house in Cadiz.
In early manhood Mr Barber joined the Locust Grove Baptist Church, and all his life was a faithful member. He was also active in all community activities, and was a highly respected citizen with a host of friends.
He was married in December 1903 to Miss Ruth Tuggle, also of this county, who survives him.
Other survivors are a son, Dabney Barber, Hopkinsville; a daughter, Mrs George Roberts, Cadiz; a granddaughter, Ann
Barbara Roberts; and three sisters and two brothers, Mrs Albert Ledford, Christian County, Mrs J.T. Shelton, Hopkinsville, Miss Manie Barber, Mr Milton Barber and Mr Joe Barber, Trigg County.Cadiz
