Died Saturday 11 Sept 1954 at home.
Born in 1863 in the Hamby precinct of Christian Co., son of Elijah and Cinderella Hamby Armstrong.
Moved to Hopkinsville as a young man. Former Hopkinsville chief of police, city jailer, and councilman. In 1912, went into the monument business as half owner of the firm of McClaid and Armstrong. Retired in 1940 and for the past nine years was confined to his bed. Was married first to Miss Alice Perkins and second to Miss Annie McCord who died a few months after the marriage. Also preceding him in death were children, Lieut. Cecil Armstrong and Mrs. George Harris.
Survivors: daughter, Mrs Dudley Ledford of Hopkinsville; son, Garnett Armstrong of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren, Cecil Ledford of San Francisco and Glenn Armstrong of Albuquerque; and five great grandchildren.
Services: Monday 13 Sept 1954, burial in Riverside Cemetery. Henninger and Lilly Funeral Home.

JOHN W. ARMSTRONGMr. John W. Armstrong died near Brown's Grove on the 26th of typhoid fever. He was visiting his mother in law, Mrs. Sarah Drowns, when he took sick and remained there until his death.
Burial at Antioch. The parents of Mr. Armstrong reside in Texas and did not learn of his death until after the burial.

Retired security guard with Hart Coal Co., Mortons Gap.
His wife, Maggie Bell Crowe Armstrong, died in 1935.
Survivors: son, Lomond Armstrong Jr. of Hopkinsville; two daughters, Mrs. Pershing (Virginia) Cavanaugh and Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Dowdy both of Hopkinsville; a sister, Mrs. Malbert Boyd of Crofton; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren.

Robert "Pappy John" Armstrong, 52, of Reed died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at Community Methodist Hospital.
He is a veteran and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife. Helen.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Cravens officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
