ALSMAN
JAMES D. ALSMANJames Dawson ALSMAN, 74 years of ago, died Sunday at his residence on North Thirty -second street.
He was born in Pope county, Illinois, January 25, 1858.
Besides his widow, Mrs. RUTH H. ALSMAN, he is survived by two sons, Clarence D. and Dan ALSMAN; one daughters, Marion Ruth; two brothers, W.H. ALSMAN of Columbia, Ten; and A. L. ALSMAN of Detroit, Mich; two half-brothers, ISAAC ALSMAN of Metropolis, Ill and HARRY ALSMAN of Detroit. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Alsman was the son of John J. and Lucinda ALSMAN of New Liberty, Ill. He became associated with the old Chesapeake, Ohio and South-western railroad in 1883, in Paducah and served that road many years. Later he became connected with the Illinois Central System and was retired by that road in 1928. He was known to many friends as "Uncle Daws."
He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church, and belonged to the Odd Fellows' lodge.
Funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was in Mayfield cemetery. The pallbearers were: Tom Roberts, C.C. Holiday, Henry Steinhauer, Frank H. Jones, W.M. Block and T.S. Heath.
