Marion C. Layne, (1839-1918)
the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth F. (Vass) Layne.
This picture was taken in his Confederate cavalry uniform.
He served with the 1st Ky. Cavalry Regt. He was
part of the escort for Jefferson Davis when Davis was fleeing from
the
Federal forces. Marion was captured and later paroled in Nashville,
Tenn.
