I feel such gratitude to the people who are finding and cleaning these cemeteries,
I can’t express my thanks enough.
Martha Ann Slaughter and Robert Jeffery Keeney were my g g grandparents
Martha Ann Slaughter was the daughter of James W. Slaughter and Lucy Ann Brooks.
James was the son of Presley Slaughter a founder of Trigg County KY.
Robert Jeffery was the son of James McFarland Keeney and Elizabeth R Murphy, he was the
grandson of Thomas Jefferson Keeney and Martha (Patsy) McFarland who are buried at Keeney
cemetery in Caldwell Co.
Martha married the first time to Benjamin Patton Mitchell, 18 Sep 1862, in Caldwell Co.
Two of her children by this marriage are buried here, Alice Mitchell Marquess and James
D. Mitchell.
Martha Married Robert Jeffery Keeney, 04 Oct 1871 in Caldwell Co. she was a widow with
four children.
She had four children with Jeff Keeney and he died sometime before 1890.
Martha has three grand children buried here, Gracy Irene Marquess daughter of Ella Grace
Keeney Marquess, and John Frank Marquess, Ella Grace was Martha’s daughter.
Cora Lee Marquess and Gordon Elmo Marquess children of Alice Mitchell and Cyrus Napoleon
Marquess. Cyrus’s father Jacob Holland Marquess came to Kentucky from Sumner Co. TN.
around 1848, with his parents William Kidd Marquess and Charlotte Armstrong.
Jacob was the brother of my g g grandfather James Porter Marquess; they married sisters
Malina Ann and Nancy Ryan also from Sumner Co.
I hope to get back to Princeton in the near future, it will be nice to go and put flowers
on the graves.
