Bio from Ann Davis Pittman-Thompson, daughter ***********
Lowell E. Davis was born in Princeton, KY in 1915 to W. B. and Edna Davis of 510 Madisonville Street.
My grandparents lived near or in Princeton all their lives. My father lived in Princeton until after
the war when he moved with my mother, Era Ferrell Davis, and us two children to Dawson Springs
to work for the newspaper there. He had begun his newspaper career at the Leader in Princeton
after graduation from Butler High School. While in Princeton he and Era lived at 607 Hopkinsville Street.
During the war, daddy had basic training at Fort Hood, Texas and shipped out for France from Boston in December 1944.
He was on his way to France when I was born on December 5, 1944. He served with the 274th Infantry Division Anti-Tank
Company as part of the 70th Division and was part of the war in France and then in Germany.
He returned in February 1946.
